When he gets taken down, there’s no urgency to scramble back up and no real skill set to threaten off his back. He basically just accepts bottom position. Farid’s top pressure is heavy, he’s slick with transitions, and once he gets that body lock or a clean entry, Gutierrez isn’t stopping it. Even if Chris is having success with the kicks or scoring points on the feet, it won’t matter, because Basharat’s wrestling is consistent enough to erase that and put him on the mat where he has a massive advantage.

The reality is Gutierrez needs this fight to stay standing and go perfectly for him to win, while Basharat has multiple ways to dominate. Whether he’s neutralizing the striking by mixing in takedowns or just straight-up grinding Chris out on the ground, the path is clear. Basharat’s pressure, grappling, and fight IQ should carry him here, and that’s why I think he gets it done.

Prediction: Farid Basharat via Decision Gutierrez has always had that glaring hole on the ground.
