Alexander Hernandez vs Diego Ferreira

Prediction: Hernandez via Decision (Value is on Ferreira)

I am on Hernandez. If he was plus money, I’d be all over it because stylistically he has some real advantages. But with him sitting as the favorite, the value shifts hard, and Ferreira becomes the smarter play.

Hernandez has really started coming into his own recently. His footwork has been sharp, keeping him out of danger and letting him dictate where the exchanges happen. When he’s able to control range and lead the dance, he looks clean. His jab, his movement, and his ability to pick shots all line up. The problem is when opponents decide to just take that space away and go after him. Even though he’s improved at handling pressure, you can still see him get uncomfortable when the fight gets dirty and chaotic. And that’s exactly the type of fight Ferreira thrives in.

Ferreira has the higher level experience and has proven he’s not afraid of a dog fight. His striking isn’t perfect and his defense leaves holes, but he makes up for it with volume, toughness, and the willingness to just bite down and throw. His striking range is deceptively long too, which means Hernandez won’t be able to dance completely out of danger. On top of that, wrestling Ferreira is a nightmare. He’s hard to take down, hard to hold down, and if Hernandez can’t mix in his wrestling, that’s one less layer to keep Ferreira honest.

Over the course of the fight, Ferreira’s pace, grit, and experience in those brawling scenarios are what can flip it. At plus money, Hernandez would’ve been worth the shot. As the favorite, though, the value side is Ferreira, especially when you factor in his ability to turn this into the kind of fight Hernandez has historically struggled with.
